Recap Top 4 Results Show

It's another routine results show. This time it is to determine who will be in the top 3. However, I think we all know already. This is one results show where it would have been best to just wrap it up in ten minutes.

As per tradition, there was the opening group song. Then there were the recap highlights of the previous night. Naturally, they focused on Jason's fiasco forgetting lyrics and just being plain awful.

The empty seats were shown and Ryan announces that it will be filled with the top 3. The four contestants are then shown off stage.

Ryan calls David Archuleta first. It seems obvious that the person called first and even second must be safe, so no surprise when Ryan tells David he can take a seat.

Idols take a trip to some Beatles Cirque du Soleil thing.

David Cook called next and is of course safe.

Syesha and Jason are then asked to come onto the stage. But it's too early to get the final result, so we take a break.

The ford video follows.

Next on the agenda is the phone calls segment. some weirdo wants a date with David Cook when he performs in Pittsburgh sometime in July which coincides with her birthday. A woman asked why Simon hasn't been knighted by the queen. Clearly Simon paid the woman to call. Another one of Simon's little helpers called in to suggest he could play James Bond.

We are then "treated" to a performance by Maroon 5. To be quite frank, it was a waste of time. They brought this group on before in a previous season, so it's strange that they still brought them back.

As if we weren't tortured enough having to listen to the previous performer, Bo Bice takes the stage. Listening to him, I was like, What the hell? Pure crap! Do people actually pay to hear this sort of thing? I hope not.

Finally time for results. Ryan gives a Rundown of Jason's and Syesha's performances. Jason said he did pack his bags. Anyway, Ryan announces that Syesha is in the top 3. So long Jason. It's about time! For once the producers were forced to go along with the public vote. It should be like this every week so the producers can quit their little games.

(Before singing his departure song, Ryan commented that he looked relieved. Jason admitted that that was true as they would be singing 3 songs next week, and he probably would have freaked out, since he can't even handle two.)

Recap Top 5 Results Show

Each week a new season record in votes seems to be set. This time over 45 million were cast!

The show kicks off with the traditional group song where they do a tribute to Neil Diamond. Jason sucked.

Gina Glocksen and Constantine in audience. They're doing some show together.

Ryan proceeds to give a two and a half minute look at last night. Conspicuously absent from this recap is Paula's humongous blunder. Nevertheless, just after, Ryan does put in a word about Paula to dispel rumours. He affirmed that they love Paula and she's part of the family. I just wish Ryan would have made it clear exactly what rumours he was trying to dispel.

Time for some results. Jason is called first and is declared safe. Safe?? Why??

Archuleta is next called. After Ryan engages him in some small talk, the kid is sent to safety. David looks genuinely shocked that he is safe. What's wrong with this guy?

Then to fill some time while helping to boost Nigel's other show, a preview is shown of So You Think You Can Dance.

David Cook's turn to hear what Ryan has in store for him comes. Safe. Of course. This means that it has come down to Syesha and Brooke.

After a break, Natasha Bedingfield graces the stage and does a number. It was ok, but not an impressive song. Natasha started to leave the stage once finished with Ryan's questions, but turns back and runs over to meet david archuleta. She was polite and greeted the other contestants too.

We now come to the caller segment. The highlight of this section is no doubt the last caller. Some woman calls in and asks simon which is more memorable, his kiss with Paula, or his first ever kiss with her, when he was 9. Simon seems genuinely surprised that it really is his first crush on the phone. He remembers her name. He asks if she's still cute. Ryan asked her if simon is a good kisser, she hesitates, which causes a huge bout of laughter from Paula and audience, as that speaks for itself. Paula asks her if she's over the rabies...she said yes, and she's had a lot of counselling. A genuinely hilarious exchange.

Ford video

Neil Diamond is then invited to sing a song. The first several moments of the song sounded like talking. Actually, most of it sound so. Ryan asked Neil if the judges were fair with contestants last night. Neil hesitates a bit, and says they were a little harsh, but generally right.

Now back to Syesha and Brooke. Ryan doesn't drag it out. Contestant leaving us tonight is Brooke (said very quietly and gently), who then promptly starts to ball. But she knew it was her. Truth be told, she should have been eliminated some weeks back. I guess this paves the way for Jason to exit.

Brooke does her final number, but first apologises for how awful it would sound. Awful it was, even forgetting lyrics twice, but we understand.

Recap Top 6 Results Show

This week there were over 38 million votes, no doubt the highest for the season. Of course they are mostly useless, since we know the show must be rigged.

In introducing Simon, Ryan kisses Simon's head and naturally, everyone is surprised, and Simon seemed quite taken aback.

The group song, All I ask of You was then performed with Andrew Lloyd Webber himself on piano.

After highlights of the previous night, Ryan has a little interview with Webber on stage. Webber said he felt it for Brooke because in the dress rehearsal she was flawless. Asked about whether the contestants took his advice, he made a remark to the effect that Jason didn't. He went on to express his bewilderment on Jason's song choice, calling it "most curious". He also said he didnt want to have to agree with Simon. Ryan asked Andrew what name he would choose for a love song for Simon and Paula. Andrew suggested Time to Say Goodbye or How Can I say I miss you if you won't go away.

After the break, we come back to the Ford video where they were singing that song Danny Noriega sang before getting eliminated Tainted Love.

We then have a little clip from Bush and his wife relating to Idol Gives Back, to fill the time.

Finally we get to what we're about. Only bottom 2 to be shown tonight.

We start with the Davids. Ryan asks Cook about how come he sang the song straight. He said the unpredictable thing to do was to not change it up. Both are declared safe. Was there really any doubt about this outcome?

We are then given a rundown of contestants from past seasons who are into broadway now. The list includes Tamyra, Digarmo, Fantasia, Lakisha and Clay Aiken.

A guest performer, Leona Lewis, is then invited to sing on stage. Apparently Simon was the one who discovered her and she is now on top of the charts. She sings a song called Bleeding Love. Well she can sing, but I wasn't impressed with the song.

Now we come to Syesha and Brooke. We know one must be in the bottom 2, since Ryan never makes it known who the bottom are until he does all recaps of each contestant. When Brooke is announced as safe, she apologies to Syesha, but Syesha tells her not to. Of course we know Brooke should rightfully take a bottom 2 seat. Either the producers decided to save her again, or she managed to capture a ton of sympathy votes. Either option is possible. So the first bottom dweller for the night is Syesha.

The final two are Jason and Carly. Ryan recalls how pleased Simon was with the Carly's performance, and if you listened carefully you'd have heard Simon say in response to that, "probably the kiss of death". Jason is safe. Pure crap!

Ryan asks the judges what they think of these results. Simon suggests Brooke is safe because she made herself human and implied that people understand that we all make mistakes. For Jason, he said he wasn't good, but was charming.

Carly sings, followed by Syesha.

After the break, Ryan reveals that Carly is the one to go home. While Carly might have deserved to go in earlier weeks, this was not the week for her. She did much better than Brooke and Jason. But it could be that the song she sang wouldn't really go down so well with many Christians. Or it could really have been Simon's kiss of death. I personally think too many people felt sorry for Brooke, and wasted their votes to save her instead of giving Carly her due.

Recap Top 7 Results Show

First we learn that we had a season high record of almost 36 million votes cast.

Group song of Mariah's One Sweet Day performed. Kristy sounded real good.

After the highlights of the previous night are given, Ryan calls Jason Castro out on the stage. He then tells him to start a group to one side of him.

David Cook called next, but told to start a group on the opposite side of Jason. Ok, so we pretty much know based on past seasons, that Ryan will most likely divide the contestants into two groups of threes and then ask the remaining guy to choose the group that is safe. But having David Cook and Jason in different groups...well this should be interesting. Of course I believe Castro should rightly be in the bottom 3, but we know America wouldn't allow that.

Carly who is next to be placed, is told to join Jason's group. No doubt they wanted us to think that that group was the bottom 3.

Kristy's turn comes, and Ryan tells her to join David Cook. Well surely she must be feeling quite ok since we know for sure David C is safe.We get interrupted at this juncture with commercials and the Ford video.

Elliott Yamin graces the stage with his presence. He sang a song that didn't really sound good. No disrespect to his voice. It was just a poor choice of songs. Elliott lost his mom in the last few days. We're sorry about your loss, Elliott.

Getting back to business, Syesha is told to join Jason and Carly. Oh dear, things not looking good for poor Syesha at this moment.Brooke is then directed to David Cook's group.

Once again we get interrupted with some calls. Some questions were pure crap. One Meagan called in and told Paula she is the Meagan from some show, but Paula's expression betrayed the fact that she had no clue who it was. There was one caller who questioned Kristy about some horse. Apparently Kristy sold a horse to be able to get to American Idol. However, she tried to buy it back, but the guy refused to sell.

Mariah Carey came on and did a little number. Like Elliott, poor song choice.

Now David Archuleta is told to come forward. It's not too long before he is announced as safe. But then Ryan pulls a new stunt! He makes David Cook switch places with Syesha. Then he asks David Archuleta to join the group that is safe.

Being diplomatic about it, the youngster sits down. But it was obvious at this point which group was the bottom 3. C'mon folks, we have one group consisting of Syesha, Brooke and Kristy, and the other group containing David Cook and overrated Jason -it's a no brainer. Ryan confirms it shortly after, and so we are left with three girls standing as the bottom 3.

As you know I predicted that Brooke would be in grave danger this week even before she performed, so I was figuring she would be exiting. But then I realised there was no piano in sight! When a contestant leaves, they have to do their performance again. Since Brooke used the piano, they would have had to have had a piano for her if she was scheduled to leave. So I had a bad feeling for Syesha and Kristy.

When Syesha was declared safe, it seemed for a moment that Brooke really was leaving. But then we know the producers don't like results that are too predictable, so I knew there was little chance it would be Brooke.

Ryan then called the person who was safe, and named Brooke. It was then confirmed; American Idol is a real sham! No way Kristy was the lowest vote getter. No way! She wasn't even in the real bottom 3, so my sources say. The producers sacrificed Kristy to keep Brooke in. Wonder why? Well stay tuned until I post my theory for this!

Meanwhile, Kristy sings to Simon on her way out. Congrats girl! You managed to grow on us.

Recap Top 8 Results Show

After a somewhat exhausting break with the Idol Gives Back special, it is back to business. Time for someone to pack their bags and go!

First however, is a recap of the charity special. Naturally it is a bit lengthy considering it was a long show (2.5 hours -that's a lot of commercials!).

Over 31 millions votes cast. Apparently this is the highest for the season.

Time to get some results now. It's the now regular routine with empty sofa and 3 empty seats. Our first revelation is of Brooke. Ryan mentioned something emotional going on with her and she explains her sister is getting married this weekend and she won't be able to be there. Then she realises that this is the results show and she just might get to go home after all. Alas, Ryan tells her the unfortunate news, that she is safe, which means she will miss the wedding.

Next up is David Cook who walks quite humbly on to the stage, looking quite sheepish, knowing that he really did poorly and stands a chance of going home. No doubt he also recalls Simon calling him pompous, and so must not make Simon look right. When Ryan asks him how he feels, all he could muster up was "either way". Well the lucky bastard is safe! Truth be told, even though he did the worst this round, he has done enough to prove his right to remain in the show. So it's good the producers decided to keep him on.

David Archuleta called to face the music. Well he's safe. We all knew that anyway. Moving on...

A little spill over from the charity show takes our attention to Africa. Things are really bad in some parts over there. I hope you all gave a lot.

We then get treated to a performance by Jordin Sparks (she won American Idol last year btw) and some guy named Chris Brown. A decent little gig I admit. After that, some folks come on stage to present Jordin with some tokens to mark her success. Apparently she has items that has had over 1 million downloads. This is supposed to mean that American Idol works. Ok, but what happened with Taylor Hicks?

It's now Jason Castro's turn to hear his result. At this point he must be thinking that with just 5 contestants including himself left to be seated, that the probability is quite high that he'll have to take a bad seat. But it was not to be. This guy has escaped again!

Kristy is called next, and this is when I was quite sure that they would leave the bottom 3 for last. It had crossed my mind earlier, but I couldn't be sure. Kristy is safe (amazing how far she's come considering she should rightly have gone from the top 12 week)

Just before the break, Ryan asks who will have the lowest vote count, and if you had a sharp eye, you'd have noticed Carly raising her hand. She clearly knew she deserved to go.

I should mention that there were some clips by the presidential candidates.

So our so called bottom 3 is Michael, Carly and Syesha. Well if you read my recap of the performance show, you'll see I didn't even mention Syesha as being in any danger, so I knew she was ok. Carly no doubt was the bottom vote getter. However, as I said, Michael was also in danger, depending on whether the producers decided to let a guy go.

Ryan asked Randy what he thought. Randy said it was a pretty surprising bottom 3. Asked if she thinks America got it right, Paula says partly.

Well when Ryan called Syesha and Carly together, it was clear that Michael was the chosen one.

I must say I'm not at all sorry to see him go. As I've said, his style doesn't suit me. A girl will go home next week. Good chance it will be Brooke. But I guess there's still time to change the future!

Recap Top 9 Results Show

Kicking off the top 9 results show was the group singing 9 to 5.

After some highlights of the previous night, Ryan gets right down to business when he points to the empty sofa. It seems this has become standard procedure now, though Ryan tends to change things up as the number of contestants decreases.

First to be given news is Michaels Johns. Safe.

David Archuleta up next. I don't think anyone had any doubts of his position in the top 8. So no surprise here.

Carly, as Ryan said, is no stranger to the bottom 3, but she is safe this time.

At this stage it is time to take some calls. I'm not sure what I think of this added segment. Seems more like a waste of time so far. Pretty much most if not all the questions were boring and elicited like manner responses. The only question which had some entertainment value really, was the last one for Simon, where he was asked why he feels the need to apologise after giving negative critique. Simon apologised and said he'd never do it again. Yeah right! Can a leopard change its spots? But in fact, when Simon says he's sorry after giving brutal feedback, he is really saying he's not sorry at all.

There was a performance by some Clark brothers at this stage. What crap! Who paid to get these guys on the show? Good grief!

Ford music video followed.

Back to results. David Cook called. Ryan mentions that David was taken to the hospital just after the performance show. David explained that he had high blood pressure. Other news reports say he had some anxiety problems. Well thankfully he seemed ok tonight and even more so after being declared safe.

Ramiele up next. It was inevitable for her to be sent to the bottom 3 seats. After all, 4 contestants were already called before, and each one in succession declared safe. Just based on probability, it would be too much to hope she could escape being in the bottom. But she had a lot more going against her too, as I've made clear on this site.

Kristy's turn. A keen mind could accurately predict she'd be chosen to keep Ramiele company. I won't go into it here, but it has nothing to do with her performance.

At this point we got to catch up with Buckeye, Phil Stacey and Bo Bice. The former two are happy doing Country music. Bo explained he had intestinal surgery, and took a year off. But he's now doing Southern Rock.

As it pertains to the results, we have Syesha, Brooke and Jason remaining to hear their news. Since only one must be in the bottom 3, it was obvious that Syesha whose turn was next would be safe. And so it came to pass.

So either Brooke or Jason is safe. It wasn't too long before we knew that Brooke is indeed in the so called bottom 3. If you ask me, Jason was really in the bottom 2.

(Ramiele is really short!)

Ryan asks Simon what he thinks of the bottom dwellers. Simon said he totally agrees. Simon is so full of it. Without doubt, Jason deserved to be in that group, in place of someone else.

We get an interlude here to promote the Idol Gives back week which is to come. This time they highlighted some work they have done in Ethiopia. A touching story was told of a young girl seeking to be reunited with her sister, and ending happily when the Idol team found her.

Dolly Parton graced the American Idol stage, and surprisingly sounded really bad. I am tempted to say "horrendous", but I will restrain myself. After her unfortunate performance, in her little chatter with Ryan, she said Simon tells the truth. What does that say about what Dolly really thought about the "bottom 3"?

Ok, now back to serious business. Ryan asks Randy who he thinks will go home. Randy forthrightly proclaims Ramiele as the one. Simon is asked the same question, but perhaps trying to be more tactful, or maybe just trying not to be wrong, just says the obvious, that Brooke would not be going home.

And surely, Brooke is safe.

Kristy stands next to Ramiele. Anyway, as I predicted, Ramiele takes the plunge. Don't be too sad folks, if they went solely by votes, she'd have gone from last week. So be thankful that you got her for another week.

Season 7 Recap Top 11 Results Show

The show begins with the announcing of the mentors for the upcoming programmes. Andrew LLoyd Weber is among them.

The idols did the traditional group performance live. Starting it off on a good note was the Achuleta kid. It took a dip when Jason and David Cook sang together. Jason brought down the quality, making it sound scratchy. When they showed Brooke and Ramiele, I was wondering if Rami was lip synching, because I could only hear Brooke.

Seems like Chicken Little was in the audience.

Recaps were next shown.

Time to start picking out the bottom 3. However there is new routine tonight. No contestants on stage, none seated. instead 3 empty seats on the left, and seats for everyone else on the right. The procedure tonight is to call each contestant out, remind audience of how things went, then declare whether the person is safe.

It is easy to understand why they are doing this. If you look around on this site, you'll see a theory about the seating arrangement. The fact is, you can pick out the likely candidates in the bottom 3 based on the seating, and the order Ryan calls them. So to make things a little less predictable, they use this format. It still has a blatant weakness though. Why/How? Well Ryan is not going to pick the bottom 3 before going through all the contestants. Therefore, once we have 2 of the bottom 3 identified, we know that all contestants after that up until the last two, are definitely safe.

Ok so the nervous Brooke is called first. But she is soon relieved when she learns she can take one of the good seats.

Carly is up next. Surely everyone is shocked when Ryan tells her she is in the bottom 3, and rightly so. Without doubt her true vote count did not put her in the bottom 3. The producers are messing with us again this year.

David A is in the top 10. Somewhat surprisingly, so is Michael Johns.

After a break we return to a scene of the idols making the ford video.

But getting back to business, David Cook is safe.

Kristy is called next, and we all know she is in the bottom 3. So it was painful listening to Ryan ask her about how she thinks she did the previous night. She actually thought her performance was her best on the show so far. But inevitably, she must take a seat beside Carly. No doubt Carly feeling a little more confident at this stage.

As I explained, everyone from here on must be safe until we get to the last two. So naturally Jason who is called next is safe. Ramiele who follows must also get good news.

We go to the new aspect of the show where Ryan takes calls from the public. The first caller asks Simon why he spends fo much money on cars but so little on clothes. Simon thought the question was rude since it implies that he looks terrible. (I thought he knew that). But his answer was basically that he doesn't have an ego, and doesn't put too much thought into what he's going to wear. That's reasonable.

The second caller asked Simon if he'd consider doing a sequel to the season 2 kiss he did with Paula. He said yes since to him Paula is a good kisser. Maybe Paula is not so eager to repeat it though.

After a couple more calls, we get some entertainment from Kellie Pickler. Surprisingly, she sounded quite good. That was a relief to me, as I was expecting it to be embarrassing, considering the calibre of talent this season.

We are then shown clips of Fantasia and Elliot Yamin in Africa.

Returning to why we are here tonight, Sayesha is called out, and it is no surprise that she gets her ticket to tour.

So we come down to Chickezie and Amanda. Ryan calls them on to the stage together. It's not long though before we are told that Chickezi is safe. Carly must be feeling pretty good at this stage seeing the company she is in. Surely she is not the worst of them. When Ryan tells one to take a seat, she knows she'll be the one.

Three are standing now.

Carly -safe! (duh!)

2 remain

Kristy, safe for another week! Ok, I correctly predicted the bottom 2, but was wrong on who would go. I don't mind though.

So Amanda is leaving -finally! Unfortunately we have to hear her sing the song again.

Top 12 Results Show : Re-Crap!

This is a complete disaster. The guy who should have won the whole thing got eliminated tonight. David Hernandez did a poor job on the performance night, but we have seen his skills and potential. He should have been kept.

Really, do people actually want to see more of Sayesha, or Christy Lee, or Amanda, or Johns, than David Hernandez? The American people are sick!

I am so pissed right now, I don't know when if at all I'll do the recap of the results show.

Recap Grand Finale

So the couple hours we were all waiting for, finally arrived - The Grand Finale Results show! What a waste of time. In character with the whole season, the closing show was boring and filled with commercials that probably had as much time as the actual show.

I refuse to give the step by step event progression in the kind of detail as I normally do. I shall simply select the most entertaining bits, and make mention of some of the other items they hoped we would have found interesting.

The show was filled with singing performances by a wide assortment of celebrities. The actual Idol contestants were for the most part relegated to background music.

Opening the show were Jordin and Blake singing I Saw Her Standing There. As I listened, I muttered to myself, "damn it! Blake is ruining everything". Then Jordin started to sing, and I was like, "good grief! Jordin is messing it up too". Gwen Stefani did a number. Not sure why. Really, if she was not sexy, would anyone care about her singing?

So very poor start to the show. Kelly Clarkson sang Never Again, and I hope she never again does it. It was a most unfortunate choice of songs. Seemed to me like she was shouting for a good deal of it.

Finally the show begins to brighten up as Ryan introduced the Golden Idol Awards. Essentially an award is given to some of the strangest contestants who auditioned, for something. There were 3 such awards presented, but I think we'd all agree only two were particularly interesting.

The first award went to Margaret Fowler. This is the one Ryan once referred to as Big Bird's long lost cousin, or something to that effect. The other nominees for this category of Best Presentation, were also serious contenders for the prize. Miss Fowl...err..Fowler stepped up to receive her prize and gave Ryan a huge wet one right on the lips, taking him down to the ground. Oh, her cell phone actually rang while she was collecting her award. LOL! I really wasn't sure if that was scripted or not.

The third award which was for the category of Best Buddies went to Jonathan and Kenneth. However Ryan and Simon came pretty close to taking the title. Another notable nominee was Antonella Barba and her friend. Jonathan is the guy Simon said looked like a bushbaby. He actually thanked Simon for saying that, as it has apparently brought him a lot of fame since.

The top 6 guys did a number with Smoky Robinson. I think it would have been better without him. Not that there is anything wrong with Smoky, but as we have not seen and heard some of these guys for some weeks now, it would have been nice to hear more from them. It was the same problem with the girls. They performed with Gladys Knight, mainly as background singers. At least there was more entertainment to their item. And it was refreshing to see the Lovely Haley once again.

Melinda got to do a little more backup singing with the folks she normally sings with. Ok, to be fair, she did get to showcase her stuff somewhat. Anyway, this was a pretty decent item.

Blake and Jordin were given a car each (mustangs).

Carrie Underwood performed I'll Stand By You, the song she also did on Idol Gives Back show. I liked it then, and I liked it now. I was never a Carrie fan, but I did enjoy this performance. I suspect the song itself has a lot to do with it, but I don't want to take anything away from Carrie, as it really did sound good.

Clive Davis gave a little speech, where he highlighted the fact that Daughtry has out sold Taylor and Kathryn by a lot. He mumbled some other stuff and then voila! Carrie Underwood is presented with an award.

The African Children's choir were back, and performed an item that they sang in their own language. Nice to see them doing well.

I guess as part of the comedy aspect of the show, Sanjaya was back, performing with Joe Perry. The introduction to this segment had Sanjaya at the end of a list of notable folks such as Einstein, JFK and Gandhi. Well Sanj boy was in his element and did not fail to deliver the kind of performance that we've come to expect from him. Even the Crying Girl, who was back in the audience, was brought to tears again.

Taylor Hicks made his season debut performance. He's still doing the weird looking dance moves, and still milking the old harmonica gimmick.

There was a duet with Jordin and Ruben. Yes, long lost Ruben Studdard. Apparently he is still around. Well the duet was actually fairly decent.

Towards the end of the show Kelly Clarkson came back and sang solo. As she finished her bit, she introduced Taylor Hicks. He did a little something, and then introduced Carrie Underwood. During her singing, the top 6 girls of this season appeared in the background. Ruben Studdard got his introduction and then the top 6 guys of this season gave some background support. This led to some singing by the current Idols themselves. What a breath of fresh air to hear the Lovely Haley Scarnato again. Only Idol winner absent, was Fantasia.

Other items that some possibly found interesting were:
Blake beat boxing with Doug E. Fresh (who was much better than Blake at it)
Tony Bennett singing
Bette Midler...(sounded not good)
Ford video

Ok, so that wraps it up for the grand finale, or is that grand flop?

Oh, I forgot to mention one other thing that transpired in the last few minutes of the 2 hour presentation. There were over 74 Million votes (a record btw), and Jordin Sparks won. Well I already declared her the winner from last week, so it's already stale news to you readers.

Folks, I intend to update this site as need be, but I do expect that I'll be scarce between now and next year. However, feel free to post here any American Idol ideas or theories you find interesting.

Congrats Miss Sparks!

Recap Top 3 Results Show

Well the show to tell us who will be in the finale finally arrived. I must say that the result is somewhat depressing, and so it is with some struggle that I prepare this recap.

Commencing the show was a little clip of Homer Simpson announcing or trying to anyway, the results show.

From this early we are made aware of the fact that Brandon was in the audience. Remember Brandon? (see his pic further down)

We all know the top 3 contestants got to return home during the week prior to their performance. The results show was essentially a recap of their trip back home. Each contestant were met by mayors/governor, and a great many fans. In addition, it seems they each got a day dedicated to them in their respective states.

Jordin Back At Home

Blake Back At Home

For some reason Blake seemed to have had almost all female fans. That proves to me that he hasn't really made it so far based on his singing.

At Blake's home town, the following guy was spotted.

Recognise him? I can't say for certain, but he seems to be the guy who appeared challenged in some way, who auditioned earlier and became friends with the guy Simon said looked like some creature in the jungle with the big eyes.

Melinda Back At Home

After the clip of Jordin's trip back home, Ryan started to give the run down of the judges' comments of her performances the previous night, as if he was about to start giving the results. But he stops just short of that, and tells her she will get the news later on.

Other notable persons in the audience were Lakisha (with Brandon), and the Lovely Haley.

I should probably mention that Blake did the national anthem while he was home, and it didn't sound good. In fairness to him, it wasn't clear whether it was his voice, or just the accoustics of the setting.

Ryan basically did the same thing for Blake as he did for Jordin, in acting as if he was delivering the results.

Certainly one of the great highlights of the show, was the return of Elliott Yamin, the great. This guy made it to the top 3 in season 5, but America didn't think the best vocalist of that season should have had a place in the finale. Well Elliott did a live performance, and it was excellent. Good song and superb singing! Ryan solicited the judges' comments on his performance. Randy said it was hot. Paula replied that she was speechless and so proud of him. Simon said it was not great, but quickly added that he was kidding and it was great.

Throughout the show Simon seemed down. Ryan even called him out on that, and asked why he was sulking. He claimed he wasn't, and mumbled some excuse about it being cold. In hindsight, it seems Simon knew the result, and knew things were not right.

After Elliott's fine showing, Ryan started to introduce the break. In doing so, he said Melinda would be going home after. I was like, "What the?? Did he just blunder and give away the result early?" Then I figured out he was referring to her return trip. Or was I right in my first thought?

The routine Ford video managed to find its place in the show. Song for the video was Everybody Wants You.

After the recap of Melinda's trip home, there was another live performance, this time from the band Maroon 5. A waste of time if you ask me.

Ok, so we finally get to the last few minutes of the show, when the focus is on some incidental details, the actual results. So the 3 contestants are now centre stage. Ryan calls Jordin to step forward. After almost 60 million votes, Jordin is declared a grand finalist. Well this wasn't altogether surprising. We all know Jordin is quite talented and has been a candidate for the finale for some time now. But the question now raised is, what about Melinda? The producers' behaviour throughout the season, seemed to have indicated that they wanted a boy-girl finale. But surely they wouldn't allow Melinda to fall by the wayside. Would they?

Ryan calls Melinda forward and gives the sad sad news, that the road ends here for her. Blake managed to squeeze through. Or should I say, the producers paved his path to get there. Well, it doesn't seem that Simon got his way this time. His girl got cut. I was also wrong in my guess that Melinda was a sure thing for the finals, based on Simon's comment he wanted her there. It seems the producers are not all equal, and they do not all agree.

We all know this result is highly suspicious. Theories and ideas will be forthcoming.

Simon, we feel your pain .....................Jordin can't believe she outlasted Mel

One thing is for sure: Jordin will be the next American Idol. It is by no means too close to call, and so I call it.

Recap Top 4 Results Show

With the top 4 results show, we were once again treated to a 57 minute waste of time, practically speaking. At least the previous results show had two eliminations to spread across the hour.

Anyhow...The show started with a variance in the judges' seating arrangement, where Simon and Paula were interchanged. I didn't quite get the reason for that. It didn't last though, as later in the show all was made right. Actually if they wanted to do a switcheroo thing, they should consider doing it on a performance night show, with Paula and Randy interchanged (see Interchanging Paula and Randy).

With Paula in Simon's seat, at her introduction, she drew attention to her chest area, supposedly as some sort of parody of Simon basking in the attention. Ryan commented that Simon actually has more to work with in that area. Depending on one's perspective, that is either an insult to Paula or to Simon. Simon tried to get the better of it and told Ryan to apologise to Paula. Well, we all must admit that Simon has big breasts, but Paula certainly has enough of her own (see pic on right, taken from the Idol Gives Back week).

As is customary, the recaps of the previous night's show were shown. Then Ryan was back out in the Farmer's Market. Nothing much there, except that one person highlighted the fact that Blake was off in his performances.

A live performance by Pink was next. Quite frankly, it did nothing for me. Whatever the big deal is with Pink, it wasn't evident from that showing.

Then we had the Ford video. The song for it was You Really Got Me. I seem to recall Sanjaya doing that several weeks ago. That is now a Sanjaya song to me since it brings back memories of his rendition.

Up next was the group performance with a tribute to Barry Gibb, as they did a smorgasbord of pieces of his songs.

Ryan had a little chat with the idols. Nothing much to see here, so moving right along, we get to share in part of the sneak preview of the new Fantastic Four movie coming out, which the Idols were treated to. The stars of the movie were actually in the results show audience.

To fill some time, we were given a little insight into the personal lives of the Idols. Each of them except for Jordin is an only child.

After a break, the show resumed with the 4 Idols huddled together in the centre of the stage, bracing themselves for the results. Ryan begins the call out, with the rundown of what each person did, starting with Lakisha. Melinda next, then Blake. As he completed his piece for Jordin, he declared her safe!

We can't get to the rest of the results yet. We have breaks and announcements lined up first. One item that might be of interest to some, is that American Idol is now looking for bands. Now you don't have to go make a fool of yourself alone. You can do it with a group.

Barry Gibb gave a live performance of To Love somebody. Strange song choice, since Jordin just did an excellent job of it the previous night. Why set up yourself to be compared to her? Anyway, he went for it, and sucked big time if you ask me. He started out somewhat like a chicken clucking, and then did an overall poor performance. He should observe the following young man in action, and take lessons on how this song ought to be sung!

Results time again. Melinda, safe!

So with just Blake and Lakisha standing, Ryan asks Randy who he thinks is going home. Of course Randy refuses to guess. Simon on the other hand gladly volunteered his guess that Lakisha would be the one.

Over 45 Million votes.

"Blake", said Ryan, "You are safe". At last Lakisha goes home. The producers saved her long enough, and decided that now is the time. I'm tempted to say All's well that ends well, but alas, Blake is still in the show.

Recap Top 6, Round 2 Results Show

So another results show came to pass, but this time it was a double feature, in that two were sent home. Charity week saved someone last time, and so to restore order in the world, an extra one had to go this week.

Ryan and Simon started out on the wrong footing. Ryan made a comment (nevermind what the context was) to the effect that Paula is not Simon's puppet, and that he has seen his puppet which is not as pretty as Paula. That baffled Simon, and the perceptive mind could see that he took that as an insult to his girlfriend/fiancee. That itself is an indictment on Simon, as it seems he has no problem considering a person his puppet. Anyway, Ryan meant no such thing. Quite frankly, I'm not sure exactly what Ryan meant, though I suspect there is something rude/naughty to it. One wonders how Ryan got to meet this "puppet".

So as Ryan tried to ask Simon a question regarding the prior night's performances, Simon was on the verge of making a scene when he demanded Ryan apologise for insulting his girlfriend. LOL! Well the air was eventually cleared, and Ryan got his question out. In essence Ryan wanted Simon's comments on his thoughts for the performance show. Simon characteristically was very parsimonious with his praise, but with some struggle, managed to admit that if he had to give anyone top marks it would have to be Blake, partly because he took a risk.

Ok, to avoid making this recap too long, let me cut to the chase. After street interviews and a few other things, Ryan asked Lakisha what she thought of the kiss. She replied that she would do it again. But Ryan ensured there be no such repeat of that, since, as he said, we heard earlier that he has a girlfriend, and "it is VERY serious". Simon cracked up at that. I'm not quite sure why it was so funny to him.
